Searching for inspiration

Remember to pin this to your Pinterest board!

After seeking advice from ChatGPT, I realized it would also be wise to look at portfolios of other illustrators I admire for inspiration. There are a few illustrators I follow repeatedly on Instagram and YouTube. Don't worry, I'll link to their portfolios below.

Lucy Fleming

If you visit her website and browse through her work, you'll quickly understand why I admire her so much. What I love most about her art is the rich texture she incorporates (I use her Procreate brushes all the time), and I particularly enjoy the way she draws nature. Her portfolio features illustrations set in various locations. Some examples include forests, different rooms (such as bedrooms and living rooms), city streets, and the sky. This is something I will try to incorporate in my portfolio.

Lucie Bee

I have followed Lucie since the beginning of my drawing journey, and she has been a tremendous source of inspiration for me. I love the feeling her illustrations evoke and the colors she uses. Her portfolio not only showcases various locations but also a range of emotions, which is something I will keep in mind when planning my own portfolio.

Borghild Fallberg

Borghild is an illustrator I have admired for a long time, and I have watched her portfolio develop over the years. I love her use of colors and the way she illustrates people. Borghild has illustrated several books, and her portfolio showcases interactions between both adults and children.

There are, of course, many more wonderful portfolios to explore, but that would become overwhelming for me. However, I encourage you to look at your favorite artists and identify what you like about their work. From these three artists, I have learned that when planning my portfolio, I should include a variety of locations, a range of emotions, and interactions between adults, children, and perhaps even animals.

So now the planning can start! Join me! :)
